2024 Camp CSTP Learning Sessions

This summer CSTP is hosting two sessions in-person at the Rainbow Lodge Retreat Center in North Bend, WA including Communication and Collaboration for Equity-Focused PLC and Transformational Advocacy. Our intimate sessions are limited to 24 attendees and focus on connecting educators while diving into important topics. These sessions are an excellent jump start for educators getting ready for the new school year with options to register for one or both learning sessions. Be sure to register by May 31 to take advantage of Early Bird pricing.

Session I: Communication and Collaboration for Equity-Focused PLC

Dates: 12:00 PM on August 14, 2024 – 11:30 AM on August 15, 2024

Clock Hours: 6

Description: In this session, participants will utilize the Teacher Leadership Framework as a tool to develop the knowledge, skills and dispositions to lead PLCs and Learning Teams toward collective efficacy, while developing a common understanding of high functioning PLCs. Participants will build capacity for effective teams through exploration of tools to support communication and collaboration while co-constructing a definition of equity for your team and context.

Session II: Transformational Advocacy

Dates:12:00 PM on August 15, 2024 – 11:30 AM on August 16, 2024

Description: Come create a message for an issue you are passionate about. In this time of what seems like constant budget cuts and competing priorities we support educators and leaders in defining their audience, what thresholds to consider, and what data or anecdotes to include. We will also address how positionality and identity play a role in advocacy and equity messages or movements. Participants will leave the session having a better awareness of how to advocate for the issues at hand be at the individual student, classroom, or even state level.


About Rainbow Lodge

Rainbow Lodge is a rustic retreat center nestled in the mountains in North Bend, WA. Each attendee receives their own sleeping room with a washing sink; however, men’s and women’s restrooms with showers are shared. Coffee, tea, water, soda and snacks are available 24 hours during your stay. Due to the exclusive nature of the retreat center, family members are unable to join participants overnight or during the meeting.


Meet Your Instructors

 

Lindsey Stevens

Lindsey Stevens is a National Board Certified Teacher who lives in Tacoma and started with CSTP in August 2017 as the Supporting Effective Educator Development (SEED) Grant Washington State Site Director. Previously she has been a high school social studies and English language arts teacher for 13 years and most recently was a full-time release mentor teacher in the Sumner School District supporting new to career teachers at the secondary level. She has worked with CSTP as a consultant and presenter for the past four years and though she will miss her students and colleagues in Sumner her passion for all things teacher leadership and effective instruction has led her happily to this new work.

Anzara Miller

Anzara Miller has been working in education for 23 years as an administrator, professional developer, technology specialist and middle school Spanish teacher. She has a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Concordia University Portland and a Master of Arts in Teaching from University of Portland. Most recently she has served as the Director of Professional Practice and Assessment in the Shoreline School District where she has worked for the past 17 years in supporting teachers and administrators in improving their practice. Anzara’s expertise is in developing and facilitating professional learning for adults to lead them in productive conversation and collaboration. She has worked with CSTP through her work as an Instructional Framework Specialist and State Lead for the Danielson Framework for Teaching. Anzara lives in Shoreline with her two daughters.
