Supported by funds from the paul g. Allen family foundation, cstp convened a group of 14 educators representing elementary and secondary teachers, administrators and representatives from esds and higher education institutions to wrestle with the following questions:
How will the new teacher evaluation in Washington state provide helpful feedback to new teachers and promote growth among new teachers?
How will principals and others charged with evaluating and supporting new teachers be able to use the evaluation materials to meet the unique needs of new teachers, and move them forward through their first years of teaching? Decisions about how to implement the evaluation process will be made as part of district implementation. The work group created these expectations to help new teachers, with the support of their evaluators and colleagues, move from being new into readiness for proteach and national board certification. Their thoughtful discussion and expertise is the foundation of this document.
