SUMMARY:Apply Now for a CRE Residency in Your District
DESCRIPTION:Click here to apply to bring a CRE residency to your district. \nCulturally Responsive Teacher Experiences (formerly known as CRE Teacher Residencies) are a unique and intensive professional development experience in which your team receives coaching\, facilitation and technical assistance from Dr. Adeyemi Stembridge\, author of “Culturally Responsive Education in the Classroom” and “Brilliant Teaching: Using Culture and Artful Thinking to Close Equity Gaps”. \nResidencies are designed based on the needs of your educators and their students\, and include 18 hours of in-person learning\, coaching and technical assistance around the mental model that serves as the foundation for a culturally responsive classroom. The 18 hours are covered in three consecutive days using a sub release model. The dates and schedule will be mutually agreed upon once your team is selected and approved. We anticipate selecting up to 25 schools or districts for this one-of-a-kind professional development training. \nDistrict/School applicants must be able to agree to the following: \n\nBecause the strategies and planning model of Culturally Responsive Education in the Classroom must be understood and supported by those in administrative and instructional leadership\, all applications must have district and building-level administrative support for this opportunity. We encourage both district and building-level instructional leaders to commit to joining all sessions and residency opportunities.\nApplicants must commit to covering the cost of release time\, substitute teachers\, and/or stipends for team members as well as copies of “Culturally Responsive Education in the Classroom”. TPEP 664 professional learning funds and Title II Part A funds may be used to cover these expenses\, however\, applicants are responsible for applying for these funds directly with OSPI. CSTP will cover all expenses related to time and travel for Dr. Adeyemi Stembridge and provide lunch/snacks for participants.\nAll participants must attend a follow-up meeting with CSTP approximately one month after your residency experience. This 90-minute meeting is to reflect on the CRE experience\, discuss how CRE aligns with your district’s instructional framework and how CSTP can support the continued implementation and momentum of the CRE work.\n\nIf you have any questions regarding this opportunity\, please contact anzara@cstp-wa.org. \nSee the page for more information and FAQs.

SUMMARY:Teacher Leadership Academy (ATLA)
DESCRIPTION:CSTP is dedicated to elevating the teaching profession by instilling teachers with the knowledge and skills they need to lead in a variety of contexts. Our support of teacher leadership as a means to make transformative change in education has led us to the development of the Teacher Leadership Framework\, being used in a variety of ways in districts around the state. Additionally\, CSTP has collaborated with the state and local districts to develop teacher leadership academies based on the Teacher Leadership Framework and the belief that when you provide dedicated time to build a teacher’s capacity for leadership\, she can enact change in her building that benefits students. \nOur history of supporting teacher leadership is best illustrated in our four-year partnership with the Auburn School District in developing\, facilitating and supporting their Auburn Teacher Leadership Academy (ATLA). \nContact Lindsey@cstp-wa.org to schedule one for your school.

SUMMARY:Culturally Responsive Teacher Experiences Registration
DESCRIPTION:Is your team\, school or district interested in participating in an on-site 2023-2024 Culturally Responsive Teacher Experience? Fill out our 2023-2024 application and we will contact you regarding this program. \nCulturally Responsive Teacher Experiences (formerly known as CRE Teacher Residencies) is a unique and intensive professional development experience in which their team receives coaching\, facilitation and technical assistance from Dr. Adeyemi Stembridge\, author of “Culturally Responsive Education in the Classroom” and “Brilliant Teaching: Using Culture and Artful Thinking to Close Equity Gaps”. \nResidencies are designed based on the need of the educators and their students\, and include 18 hours of in person learning\, coaching and technical assistance around the mental model that serves as the foundation for a culturally responsive classroom. Generally the 18 hours are covered in a three-day sub release model. The dates and schedule will be mutually agreed upon once your team is selected and approved. We anticipate selecting up to 23 schools or districts for this one of a kind professional development training. \nDistrict/School applicants must be able to agree to the following: \n1)    Because it is imperative that CRE be understood and supported by those in administrative and instructional leadership\, all applications must have district and building level administrative support for this opportunity.  We encourage both district and building level instructional leaders to commit to joining all sessions and residency opportunities. \n2)   Applicants must commit to covering the cost of release time\, substitute teachers\, and/or stipends for team members as well as copies of “Culturally Responsive Education in the Classroom”. TPEP iGrant 664 funds and Title II Part A funds may be used to cover these expenses\, but the applicant will be responsible for applying for these funds directly with OSPI. CSTP will cover all expenses related to time and travel for Dr. Adeyemi Stembridge and provide lunch/snacks depending on the specific model chosen. \nWe anticipate hosting up to 23 teacher residencies across Washington State. To be considered for a 2023-2024 CRE teacher experience\, please fill out this application. \nIf you have any questions regarding this opportunity\, please contact Anzara@cstp-wa.org. \n \nFrequently Asked Questions\nWhen would the residency happen?  The residency will be scheduled when it works for both Dr. Stembridge and your team.  Dates are not set so as to accommodate individual school and district schedules. \nThe information says that the school or district needs to cover sub costs and can use iGrant 664 or Title II\, part A funds. Who do I contact in my district to find out about those funds?  You would need to reach out to the district office\, likely an administrator in the Instruction/Teaching & Learning department will be in charge of Title II. The iGrant 664 is TPEP funds\, so you would reach out to the administrator in charge of teacher and principal evaluation to ask about how those funds are allocated. OSPI has more information about the 664 grant here\, including a list of the amount each district is allocated for the school year.  \nHow many members should our team have? Group size varies depending on substitute availability. We have worked with groups that range in size from 4-13 educators. \nDo all team members need to be from the same school? What if two schools wanted to partner? The residency is designed so that educators can continue to collaborate and support the planning and implementation of the Culturally Responsive Education framework after the residency.  Because of this\, we would consider schools who would want to partner and who will have time to continue that collaboration and partnership in the future. As long as the administrators and instructional leaders from both schools are supportive of the residency\,  and support the further collaboration of the teachers involved\, schools may partner.
